Youth & Children Ministries

Providing guidance and opportunities to develop faith among children and youth is a strong priority for Mill Plain United Methodist Church. We seek to engage families with children of all ages through a variety of experiences and programs.

Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them.

Sunday School

Sunday School is held for Kindergarten – 12th grade students during the 9:30 a.m. service September thru June. Children are invited to Sunday School following the Young Disciples message and are picked up by parents following the service. Students are divided into two groups by grade level: K-5th and 6th-12th grade.

During Sunday School, volunteers share Bible stories, crafts and community service projects.

Youth Group

Youth Group outing

Mill Plain UMC’s Youth Group for students in grades 6th-12th is an active group that meets September thru June during the 9:30 a.m. Sunday Worship Service for formal Sunday School. Youth also meets weekly on Wednesday Evenings for social and community service projects. The group enjoys summer special events and an annual retreat where members deepen their relationships with one another and God.

The Youth Group is an integral part of the church community, providing volunteers and support for events such as Food Bank Drives, the Halloween Trunk or Treat, potlucks, the Souper Bowl and the group organizes an annual spaghetti dinner and silent auction to support its ministries and activities.

Holidays & Social Events

Easter egg hunt

Whether it’s celebrating Advent and Easter or participating in special events such as ice cream socials and potlucks, our youngest members are always welcome!

I was specifically looking for a congregation that would support and nurture my children’s relationship with God. As soon as we walked in the door at Mill Plain, we were all warmly welcomed, and I have been impressed with the many ways the kids have been engaged and involved with the church in just a short period of time.
